I visited the Condroz rally again this year and shot some pictures of the action.
I went to Huy on Saturday morning with the goal to see as much of the top competitors as often as I could. Special Stages I visited:
- SS 1 - Ben-Ahin: nice section at the Solières Abbey were the pilots went full in the breaks to take a quick left corner.
- SS 3 - Strée-Yernée: passage in the village of Strée with a slippery chicane.
- SS 5 - Bodegnée-Amay: very spectacular section in the open fields, with a tight muddy corner. Kris Meeke went off the road on this one, but I could not snap a picture since it was too crowded.
- SS 6 - Ben-Ahin: famous section at Tienne aux Grives, giving a nice overview. This is the stage were Steve Matterne and Rik Vanlessen went off and hit an electricity pole. Sadly, Rik Vanlessen did not survive the accident. I snapped a picture of the team driving along (second last picture below, the green-red Skoda Fabia). The crash happened a couple of minutes later...
- SS 8 - Strée-Yernée: a tight left corner at Clémodeau, with a nice view from the top of the road (the blurry picture)
